"Hohe Kreuzspitze" Peak Ski Tour (2,740 m)

A fantastic ski tour to a beautiful panoramic summit.

Starting point: Schneebergbrücke bridge car park

End point: Schneebergbrücke bridge car park

Recommended season: All winter

Avalanche danger: Beware of snow slabs on the steep slope at the "Schartl"!

Directions

From the car park near the Schneebergbrücke bridge, follow a forest track to the Untere Gostalm Alp (1,856 m). Just before reaching it, keep right before the bridge and initially climb moderately steeply through a sparse woodland. You soon reach a broad, flatter section, from where you ascend in wide hairpin bends to a crossing that becomes very steep towards the top. There, follow the track coming from Ratschings, cross another saddle and descend to the right before finally climbing a few metres to the nearby summit.

For the descent, follow the same route as on the ascent. You can ski down to the valley over beautiful, wide slopes.

Recommended equipment

Carry the necessary safety equipment, including an avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel and probe. Depending on the route and conditions, a helmet, ski crampons and additional equipment may also be required.

Wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing and suitable ski touring equipment. Take sufficient water and food with you and plan your tour so that you return in good time, preferably before nightfall.

Parking

• Coming from Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to St. Leonhard, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße to Moos. After Moos, continue to the parking place at Schneebergbrücke bridge

• Coming from the Timmelsjoch, take the Timmelsjochstraße until just before Moos, then continue to the parking place at Schneebergbrücke bridge

• Coming from the Jaufenpass towards St. Leonhard, take the Jaufenstraße SS44, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße towards Moos and further along the Timmelsjochstraße. After Moos, continue to the parking place at the Schneebergbrücke bridge
