Around 50 km long, the road winds through 44 hairpin bends up the mountain, to an altitude of 2,509m a.s.l.. The Timmelsjoch pass road offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The five stations of the Timmelsjoch Experience present relevant information.
Due to a continuous gradient of about 12%, the Timmelsjoch mountain pass road is a major challenge for racing cyclists. Cyclists must cope with almost 1,800m a.s.l., along nearly 30 km of road from S. Leoanrdo/St. Leonhard leading up to the pass. Every year, the Ötztaler Radmarathon cycling marathon takes place in August over the Timmelsjoch mountain pass road.
