Mountain Tour to "Glaitner Hochjoch" Peak (2,389 m)
A varied and enjoyable hike with excellent panoramic views.
Starting point: Stuls
End point: Stuls
Refreshment points: Kuchlålm Alp; with the alternative descent route: Wiedler Alm Alp, Refuge Hochalm, Egger-Grub-Alm Alp
Directions
The tour starts at the car park next to the church in Stuls (1,315 m). Follow trail no. 16, which climbs steeply between the church and the Stullerhof, ascending several steps. After a short section along a side road, the trail enters the forest. It continues steeply uphill until, after about half an hour, you reach a wide forest track. Turn right here and continue following trail no. 16, which after a few minutes of walking leads onto an asphalt road.
Follow the road to its end at the last farm (Hochasp). Beyond the farm, the route continues along a wide tractor track and then descends a few metres to the right into a small valley. Cross the hollow and climb up the opposite side until you reach another asphalt road. Follow the road for about 20 minutes, passing the Raffein farm, before turning left shortly afterwards onto a forest track, still following trail no. 16.
Follow this trail uphill to the Kuchlålm Alp (1,835 m). Continue along trail no. 16 and walk through beautiful alpine meadows, passing several wooden huts, until you reach the Schlattacher Joch (Schloter Joch – 2,268 m).
From the Schlattacher Joch, trail no. 12 climbs eastwards onto a ridge, which eventually leads you to the panoramic summit of Glaitner Hochjoch (2,389 m).
The easiest way back is to follow the same route as the ascent.
Alternative descent: From the Schlattacher Joch, you can also choose a longer circular route. Follow trail no. 15 to the Wiedler Alm Alp (2,170 m), then continue along the Passeier High Mountain Trail (Passeirer Höhenweg) to the refuge Hochalm (2,174 m). From there, the trail passes by the Egger-Grub-Alm Alp (1,943 m) and leads you back to Stuls on a pleasant and relaxing route.
The trail is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.
