Greatthings from...

The magazine of the holiday region Lana

How long has it been since you've sent or received a postcard? It's a shame that this small friendly gesture has got a bit lost in modern times... Wasn't it nice, when you were travelling, to think of your loved ones and to send them a message from a place you loved? Wasn't it nice to come home and find a postcard in your letterbox?

A little card just for you, that made you travel, staying at home. It is this small but precious object, of memories, journeys and love, that inspired us when we created this magazine. What you are holding in your hands is in fact a “maxi postcard”, dedicated to you who have come to visit us in these beautiful places. And just like on a postcard from times past we couldn't leave out “Greetings from...”, but you might have noticed they are a bit different here. From the usual“Greetings from...” to our “Greatthings from...”. Because this new postcard from us to you is full of great things: stories, people, places, ideas, inspirations, curiosities and tips, directly from Lana, Tscherms, Völlan, Gargazon, Burgstall and Mount Vigiljoch.

Colourful Happiness. It Blooms in Lana and Surroundings
They do not want to miss anything. They do not want to hide any longer. Crocuses are the first ones to peak out from underneath the banks of melting snow. Slowly but surely, they stretch out their white and purple flowers, piercing through the damp meadows. It is one of the most fascinating moments of the year: when, after months of sleep, nature defies the frost and comes alive again.

Five Floors of Design
Imagine a large, two-dimensional sheet of metal—shaped into an abstract, human figure with arms and legs stretched out as if it were doing a cheerful star jump. Now imagine that the four limbs and the head of the above-mentioned happy little guy are bent and buckled into four legs and a backrest. Voilà: the Pressed Chair.

Searching for traces... in the Gaulschlucht gorge
Fascinating, bizarre and wild, and particularly pleasant in the summer months since the climate is humid cool and promotes biodiversity. The gorge winds into the valley, it starts innocuously at the bridge that leads over the Valsura river in Oberlana.

Immerse yourself in the magic of the past: a summer evening at Lebenberg Castle
An old castle reveals itself to me, taking me on a mysterious journey. It mesmerises and leads me from room to room, from story to story, through the past.

Between apples and seeds
Lana and the entire region are full of diversity. And thanks to the favourable mix of Mediterranean and Alpine climates, it’s not just apples that have found perfect conditions for growth here for several centuries and at all altitudes…
