Mountain Churches in Lana and Environs
A place of worship since prehistoric times, the St. Hippolyt Kirche church is located on the hill of Narano/Naraun in Tesimo/Tisens. This popular route includes breath-taking views of the mountain landscape. The small St. Virgilius Kirche church is located higher up on Mount Vigiljoch.

The St. Peter Kirche Gothic church dates from the late 14th Century. With its magnificent altar by Hans Schnatterpeck, the Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt parish church is considered one of the most magnificent late Gothic structures in South Tyrol.

In the many fortresses and castles of the adjacent villages art, painting and handicraft play an important role. Picturesque walking paths, once used by pilgrims, merchants and knights that traversed the valleys and passes, lead you to historical sites of interest. You will also find peasant traditions of the region captured in Lana's many museums.

Among the mansions, monasteries, monuments and historic art works of past times modern life finds its way through. For example the South Tyrolean Sculpture Walk Trail presents contemporary art along the irrigation channels and walking paths in and around Lana.
