Public Art Map
A map of art in the public space
Public Art Map
Welcome! Public Art Map is the first map of the artworks created for the public domain in Meran/Merano.

Art in public sites generally incorporates a wide range of artistic approaches. The common denominator between the artists and their works is the ambition to find ways of interacting with the urban context. Such artistic interventions can change the perception of public sites or make the familiar look completely new.

When taking a stroll through Meran, you will time and again chance upon artworks. For instance, on Luigi Sassu’s sculptural depiction of a horse by the Postbrücke bridge; or on the black-and-white mural designed by Blu and Ericailcane on Passeirer Gasse/vicolo Passiria; or on the ten busts or Human Shapes lining the Passer Promenade’s lower stretch. A variety of further artworks is inconspicuous or hidden, while others are not commonly regarded as art.

The Public Art Map is therefore meant to facilitate the perception and appreciation of these public pieces of art.

We invite you to discover the art locations online and to visit them. Information plaques, photographs and audio files explain the artworks. Roam the streets familiar or unfamiliar to you with an open mind and discover the contemporary art on display here in Meran!
