Texelgruppe Nature Park

To the west of the Passeiertal Valley lies the Texel Group Nature Park, covering around 33,430 hectares, making it the largest nature park in South Tyrol. Its diverse mountain landscape is home to an impressive variety of wildlife and plant species. With a bit of luck, you may spot roe deer, chamois, marmots, Alpine ibex, squirrels, or black woodpeckers. From downy oak forests to flowering alpine meadows, nature reveals its full diversity here.

Among the park's best-known natural highlights are the Spronser See Lakes, the largest high-alpine lake plateau in South Tyrol, majestic glaciers, and striking peaks such as Matatzspitze peak and Hohe Weiße peak. The gentler slopes on the Passeiertal Valley side are perfect for both leisurely hikes and challenging mountain tours.
The municipality of Moos in Passeier, located in the heart of the nature park, is an ideal starting point for countless hiking adventures. From Pfelders, St. Martin in Passeier and Riffian, visitors can also access a wide range of scenic routes leading into the breathtaking mountain landscape of the Texel Group Nature Park.

To ensure that our landscape, flora, and fauna remain protected for the future, we ask you to follow a few simple rules of conduct. Together, we can make sure this special place stays just as it is: wild, peaceful, and unique.



1: Please leave your car behind.
Access to the Nature Park by car is not permitted. On foot, you can experience the landscape much more deeply, while also helping to protect animals and plants.

2: Camping? Yes – but in the right place!
As tempting as it may be to camp in the middle of nature, camping within the Nature Park is not allowed in order to protect sensitive habitats. Nearby campsites offer everything you need. More information here.

3: Take away what you bring with you.
Do not leave any litter: no packaging, no tissues, no banana peels. Nature will thank you!

4: Keep it quiet – animals need silence.
Avoid loud noises. Many wild animals are very shy and need peace and quiet to feel safe.

5: Flowers stay where they grow.
Plants are protected too. Do not pick flowers or herbs – they belong here and are a joy for all visitors.

6: Mushrooms are for looking, not picking.
Collecting mushrooms in the Nature Park is not permitted! You can find out about the regulations for mushroom picking in other areas of the Passeiertal Valley here.

7: Stay on the right path with your bike.
Keep your bicycle on the marked trails. This helps protect plants, animals, and the soil.

8: Four-legged friends welcome – with respect!
Dogs are welcome, as long as they are under control and do not disturb wildlife. Always keep them on a leash.

9: No fires in the Nature Park.
Open fires pose a serious danger to nature and are therefore not permitted – not even for barbecues or campfires.

10: Fossils and minerals? Leave them where they are.
Collecting fossils and minerals in the Nature Park is not allowed. If you happen to find something, please check here for the correct procedure.

11: Drones stay on the ground.
To protect the animals and the tranquillity of the park, flying drones is not permitted.
