Lana in Bloom

While spring is mostly dedicated to culinary highlights, summer is the time for musical and cultural events. From May onwards many concerts and festivals take place throughout South Tyrol.

Every year in May Lana organises the LanaLive Music Festival, where international stars perform along with many local musicians and bands. Open-air theatre is featured by the Freilichtspiele Lana. The Gola Canyon serves as a beautiful setting.

During the months of July and August the "Long Thursdays" take place in the historical town centre of Lana. This means shops and vending stands stay open late and an entertainment programme creates a festive atmosphere. Contemplation and reflection are the objective of the garden festival organised by the plant nursery galanthus. The focus is on the diversity of cultivated plants available in the area.

Lana and its surroundings offer exquisite culinary highlights during spring and autumn.

In April Lana celebrates the Blossom Festival with the so-called "farmer's mile of indulgence" and in May the Wild Herbs Days take place.

At harvest time, when the spa town of Meran and the mountains around the Lana area show a colourful spectacle of nature, the time has come to celebrate autumn and the juice of Bacchus. An excellent opportunity to do so is the custom of "Törggelen" (eating roasted chestnuts and tasting young wine) that you can enjoy during the Chestnut Days (known as "Keschtnriggl") or at the Grape Festival (Traubenfest) in Merano.

However, most other villages and towns surrounding Merano also offer their own culinary feasts during autumn.

In the Adige Valley are well developed trail and road networks amid a varied natural and cultivated landscape. The beautiful mountain landscape surrounding the Adige Valley and the Meran basin represents not only a challenge for ambitious mountain runners and mountain bikers, but it also offers a unique panorama and a large number of hiking trails for the more relaxed hikers, who can charge their batteries in the fresh mountain air with its continuously pleasant temperatures, enjoying unique views and relaxing actively.

In order to meet the wishes of hikers and bikers Lana offers hiking and mountain biking camps every spring as well as guided hiking tours. A special offer for families is the kids' summer programme.

From April to mid-October there are concerts by the local music bands in the villages of Lana, Völlan, Tscherms, Burgstall and Gargazon.
