Il Grembiule Blu

Un simbolo della tradizione altoatesina

Un proverbio dell'Alto Adige dice che un uomo è completamente vestito solo quando indossa il suo grembiule.

Questo grembiule blu reale è un capo distintivo indossato principalmente da artigiani e contadini in Alto Adige, e svolge ancora oggi un ruolo importante. Originariamente, questo "Firtig" era realizzato con una pettorina di lino bianco, ma nel XIX secolo è stata introdotta una robusta tela di cotone, e il grembiule blu è diventato il simbolo dei contadini. Di solito veniva indossato sopra una camicia a quadri e sostituito solo in occasioni speciali con l'abito tradizionale.
Tradizionalmente, un ragazzo riceveva il suo primo grembiule il giorno del suo primo giorno di scuola, spesso ricamato con un'immagine o una frase unica. Ogni uomo adulto aveva il suo grembiule blu, lungo fino al ginocchio, che lo serviva bene nella vita di tutti i giorni. Dopo una giornata di lavoro, il lembo sinistro del grembiule veniva tirato in avanti e lasciato pendere, mentre il lembo destro veniva tirato in su e fissato sulla schiena per segnalare la fine della giornata lavorativa. A volte, il lembo del grembiule sporgeva anche sotto la giacca durante le cerimonie religiose. Il modo in cui il grembiule veniva indossato e legato poteva variare da valle a valle, ma rimane ancora oggi un comodo indumento da lavoro che talvolta viene utilizzato in modo improprio, sia come sacca da trasporto, cesto per i semi o asciugamano. In particolare, durante i lavori nei frutteti o nei vigneti è ancora possibile vedere spesso il vivido blu dei grembiuli tra le viti.
